One of the greatest gifts of our store is the reliably diverse selection of difficult to find, specialized food and food preparation items – from, say, a mustard+fig with balsamic vinegar spread straight out of Italia, to bulk, organic xylitol or quinoa flour – if you can’t find it anywhere else, you just might find it here! Ken Kavanaugh, our GM and one of the initial founders of the store, prides himself on providing Co-op members continual access to “onesy-twosey” kinds of products other stores wont consider carrying at all – specifically because there may only be a handful of loyal customers interested in the obscure items; these are the dedicated clientele that have come to rely upon the Co-op over the years.

This relationship between our store and our customers is at the heart of the Boise Co-op philosophy – if you want it, we will try our darndest to provide it for you – and if we simply can’t make room for it, we’ll go out of our way to special order it just for you (and members get an additional discount for bulk special orders, FYI!).

 

Raw Food

Our raw food area is a mainstay for many who choose to live according to the restrictions of such an exceptionally healthy diet. We have everything a raw foodie desires – cacao nibs and goji berry snacks; hemp butter and organic raw food energy bars galore. Indeed the raw food section is a hidden jewel of our growing market, a conscientious nod to the gastronomic purist, peacefully maintaining a healthy diet within the ever increasing fast-food mentality of society as a whole. Raw foodies rejoice – we have what you are longing for!

 Coffee

In an environment increasingly resplendent with organically grown and roasted coffee beans (even the big-box, cookie-cutter “competition” tout an impressive collection of organic roasters) the Co-op maintains an exceptional array of organic, fair-trade grown coffees and coffee supplies. Our fair trade selection is particular and restricted to only the finest, verifiably fair trade, organic growers, focused upon maintaining not just quality product but a quality of life for the farmers and farm workers involved in generating the crop and getting the coffee to you the consumer. We also carry many beans roasted by local, Idaho roasters keeping true to the Co-op mentality of maintaining and supporting a strong local economy.

Cleaners

We have an impressive array of eco-friendly household cleaners, detergents and general soap supplies as well as environmentally conscious paper towels and tissue supplies – presuming the re-usable wrags and high-fiber wipes simply can’t cut it. We carry all natural, dye free detergents and dryer sheets, even eco-friendly soap nuggets and dissolvable detergent balls for both laundry and dishwashing needs. And It goes without saying that we supply the waste avoiding diapers, diaper liners and diaper cleaning supplies for the environmentally reflective new parent.

Pet Supplies

The pet supplies and pet foods available at the Co-op are comparable to the finest veterinary supply stores. We carry the largest array of grain free, organic, naturally produced, nutritious animal food available in a grocery store anywhere. In addition, we carry a large array of homeopathic, natural remedies and supplements to assist the ailing pet in many common animal afflictions such as urinary issues, tummy aggravation, even pet anxiety!
